Lecture 7: More on hot/frequent items

There is not much new in this lecture. We completed our discussion of [CM03]. There is still quite a bit to be desired, especially the analysis of the false positive rate. On the plus side, this paper has made a very interesting connection between non-adaptive group testing and the hot-item problem. Moreover, the method works for both addition and deletion. I have also hinted at the idea from [CCF02], which we will present in Lecture 8.

Again, please choose your paper to present very soon. Atri and I will finalize your presentation schedule by the end of this week.
